In October 2024, a joint application was submitted to the New Mexico Public Regulation Commission by Emera Inc., NMGC, Saturn Utilities Holdco, and their affiliates, requesting approval of the sale of NMGC by Emera and the acquisition of the company by Saturn Holdco. If approved, Saturn Holdco will replace Emera Inc. as owner of NMGC. .

UPDATE: On July 30, 2026, Following an in‑depth and transparent review process that included extensive expert testimony, careful evaluation of evidence, and public comment, the New Mexico Public Regulation Commission has approved the acquisition of New Mexico Gas Company by Saturn Utilities Holdco, LLC, an affiliate of Bernhard Capital Partners.
