EPE Rate Proposal Case Information
Case no. 25-00082-UT, In the matter of the application of El Paso Electric Company for revision of its retail electric rates pursuant to advice notice no. 317.
On March 27, 2026, El Paso Electric Company filed an application with the New Mexico Public Regulation Commission requesting approval to revise its retail electric base rates in its New Mexico service area. On August 6, 2026, EPE filed an amended application with the Commission.
About the Rate Proposal (REVISED)
EPE is requesting a net base rate increase of $70.5 million (reflecting a $70.7 million total deficiency offset by $240,955 in miscellaneous service revenues) to recover approximately $2.4 billion in total system investments, including $408.44 million in New Mexico. To minimize the immediate financial impact on customers, EPE proposes phasing in the base rate increase in two steps:
- Phase 1 (January 1, 2027): A 26.8% average increase across affected rate classes.
- Phase 2 (October 1, 2027): An additional 18.7% increase relative to Phase 1.
UPDATE: Looking ahead, A public evidentiary hearing is scheduled for December 9 through December 22, beginning each day at 9:00 a.m. via Zoom.
