The NMPRC's New Case Management System is Key to Streamlining Operations in the Coming Year
By Gabriel Aguilera
Chair of the New Mexico Public Regulation Commission
As we begin a new year, the New Mexico Public Regulation Commission (NMPRC) is delivering bold and exciting changes to modernize the agency and serve the public interest more effectively, while continuing to ensure safe operations and reliable utility services at fair, just, and reasonable rates. These changes include next month’s launch of our new case management system: PRCe360.
Designed to be both smart and user-friendly, PRCe360 will serve as our agency’s main digital hub. It replaces an outdated e-docket system with a modern platform that is much easier to navigate.
As the state agency responsible for regulating New Mexico’s investor-owned utilities, this investment demonstrates our commitment to using secure technology to improve service for our residents. PRCe360 will offer more transparency and help our agency work more efficiently. It will also make it simpler for the public to interact with us — whether looking up case files, submitting an IPRA request, filing a complaint, or sharing public comments.
Key highlights of PRCe360 include:
- Modern Central Hub: Acts as the official repository for all NMPRC documents, improving organizational efficiency and accessibility. This will reduce duplicate data entry and make it easier to track progress in one place.
- Streamlined E-Filing: Features a step-by-step electronic filing process with direct access and automated service notifications.
- Enhanced Transparency and Search: Provides simplified access to public records through improved search tools.
- Real-Time Updates: Offers customizable notifications to keep users informed on case developments as they happen.
The success of PRCe360 is tied directly to the NMPRC’s three main operational priorities for the upcoming year.
First, we are focused on modernizing the agency. This involves simplifying our internal processes and managing our time more effectively to handle the growing complexity of utility regulation. By refining our tools and how we work, we are ensuring the agency can keep pace with new challenges and provide better service.
Second, we are dedicated to building a stronger, more stable team, recognizing that keeping positions filled is critical to consistent performance and the smooth delivery of services. While PRCe360 will take care of the digital side of things, we still need an experienced and dedicated staff of New Mexicans to handle the complex challenges the agency faces each day.
Finally, we are committed to establishing the NMPRC as a leader in utility regulation by making information easier for everyone to access and using it to drive effective policies. Our focus is on balancing the needs of utility companies with the financial interests of customers and local stakeholders in accordance with New Mexico law. Prioritizing this kind of collaboration brings the public and utility providers together to create policies that are transparent, effective, and easy to follow. Ultimately, we are positioning the agency as a primary resource for guidance on energy regulation.
PRCe360 is scheduled to go live on January 26, 2026. We recognize that every transition comes with a learning curve, and we are committed to supporting users throughout the process. To ensure users feel comfortable with the new system, we will offer opportunities prior to its release to view a live demonstration at an open meeting, access user guides, training recordings, and FAQs. We will also provide dedicated support during the launch. More information about these learning opportunities can be found on our website at www.prc.nm.gov.
